Stroke Prevention Clinics (SPCs) provide evidence-based, interdisciplinary care for individuals at high risk of stroke, streamlining risk factor management and timely access to diagnostic and preventive interventions.
IMPORTANT: Patients with stroke or TIA symptoms within the past 48 hours should be sent to the nearest emergency department for brain imaging.
- Patients with suspected stroke or TIA not yet assessed by a neurologist
- Patients with concerning stroke risk factors
- Referrals are accepted from medical doctors and nurse practitioners only
- Quebec patients are accepted if referred by an ED physician or specialist
- The Queensway Carleton Hospital SPC only accepts patients referred by their own emergency department.
